I.P.M.S. Chapter

KC SLAMMERS

The KC Slammers began in November, 1991,when a few model car builders wanted to promote their hobby.  We currently have 34 members ranging in age from pre-teen through their 60’s.  Our members live in and around the metropolitan area of Kansas City, Missouri.  The KC Slammers presented the first Heartland Model Car Nationals Contest in September of 1992.  The club has been able to produce this nationally-known modeling event annually ever since, with coverage of the show included in the major car modeling hobby magazines. Automotive model builders and collectors from all over the region and beyond regularly attend the event.
Our meetings include officer reports, discussion of old and new business, model cars roundtable, and the occasional debate on various aspects of the hobby.  Oh, did we mention that we also have a whole, heck of a lot of fun!
The Kansas City Slammers Model Car Club is always striving to increase interest in the model car hobby and to promote model car related events in the area.  Building model cars has been and will continue to be an area of interest for so many folks who just love cars…big and small.

If you live in or near the Kansas City Area, we would like to invite you to join us at a KC Slammers meeting.  No obligation!  We’re real laid back—just a bunch of modelers who love the hobby , sharing ideas, and having a good time.  Our meetings generally last about one to two hours.   Dress is casual to the extreme!

Our members model all kinds of automotive subjects - customs, stock, dragsters, hot rods, trucks, sports cars, racing, motorcycles, etc.

So, bring that latest project with you for our model roundtable and come ready to have a great evening centered around the best hobby ever (at least for us) - automotive modeling!

Text Box: Slammers, Heartland Attendees, & Model Car Builders:

Almost everyone has a hobby or interest of some kind, something outside of work that keeps them occupied and helps the creative juices flow or scratches the competitive itch.
Almost everyone has tried or will try to join a group of like-minded people who enjoy the same thing. But, very few will end up being a part of a great club whose members truly enjoy their hobby, share with one another and help each other in a pinch.
Those kinds of clubs are rare indeed and the KC Slammers is one of those rare jewels. When my Mom passed away five days before our most recent annual show, the show of support from fellow Slammers to take care of all my duties while I traveled home was nothing short of extraordinary! I would like to use this very public forum to say thanks to each of you for your heartfelt condolences and for your untiring support in making our 17th Annual Heartland a resounding success. With this in mind, I’ve put together one of those oft-seen lists that we’ve all become so used to but this one is mine and it’s dedicated to my fellow KC Slammers, members all of the very best Model Car Club on Planet Earth.
Hats off to you, Slammers!

You know you have a great club when:
1) You’re having a LOT of fun!
2) All the club members are involved…everybody has something to offer
3) Your club puts on the best model car show year after year after year…
4) Non-club members regularly tell you they wouldn’t miss your show for nothin’
5) Model Car builders call from around the country to ask about your show
6) Monthly meetings provide a chance to see each other’s models and to talk models
7) Modelers give (yes, GIVE) each other parts when needed for a project
8) When a fellow Slammer has a problem or a need or has lost a family member, the club pulls together and stands by them
9) You’re having a lot of fun!
A Message from our President...
